# How Can I Exclude Campaigns From Keyword Management?

## Overview

You can specifically exclude campaigns from Keyword Harvesting within a Keyword Management automation or an individual rule. Exclusion is based on campaign syntax – you specify naming patterns, and any campaigns whose names include this pattern will be ignored. **Important:** The exclusions you define here apply to **all rules within the same segment**. If you create additional rules in this segment, the exclusions will automatically be applied.

## Accessing the Function

You’ll find the exclusion setting in the last step when creating or editing a Keyword Management automation or an individual rule. To access it, open the desired segment in **Segment Management**, click the three-dot menu (**⋮**) for the relevant rule, and select **Edit Keyword Management** or create a new rule via **New Keyword Management**.

## Step-by-Step Guide

### Step 1: Open or Create a Keyword Management Rule

Navigate to **Segment Management** and open the desired segment. Click the three-dot menu (**⋮**) for an existing Keyword Management automation or individual rule and select **Edit Keyword Management**. Alternatively, create a new rule via **New Keyword Management** in the segment’s action menu.

### Step 2: Go to the Final Step

Continue through the dialog that opens until you reach the final step. Here, you will see the current connection settings and a preview of the campaign structure.

### Step 3: Configure Exclusions

In the **Campaign Filter: Exclusion by Custom Syntax** section, you can enter terms or name patterns. Campaigns whose names contain these patterns (**campaign name contains** logic) will be excluded from Keyword Management for this segment. You can add multiple patterns.

**Note:** The exclusions defined here apply to all rules within the same segment. If you add more rules in the segment, these exclusions are automatically applied.

### Step 4: Save

Save your settings. The exclusions will take effect immediately.

## Limitations & Special Notes

- Exclusions apply across the entire segment – all Keyword Management rules and automations in the same segment are affected.
- Use consistent naming conventions in your campaigns to ensure exclusions are applied reliably.

## Tips & Best Practices

- After saving, review the **Campaign Structure Preview** to make sure the correct campaigns are excluded. You can also filter the preview by a specific ASIN if needed.
